In a world where paths are often well-trodden and careers pigeonholed, there are individuals who defy convention and prove that multifaceted lives are not only possible but also immensely rewarding.

Corinne Devin stands as a shining example of such an individual – a woman who seamlessly transitioned from being a beauty queen to a naval officer and an accomplished orthodontist, each role enriching the other and painting a portrait of dedication, service, and empowerment.

A Heritage of Service and Dedication

For Corinne Devin, service was in her blood. With a father who was not only a dentist but also a source of inspiration for service, Corinne grew up with a deep-rooted passion for both oral health and the military. Her familial connection to the military stretched back to the Revolutionary War, and her commitment to service manifested in her decision to become a Navy officer.

Dedication to her dual callings of dentistry and duty led her to the United States Navy, where she embarked on a journey that combined her passion for helping others with her commitment to her country. This dedication didn’t go unnoticed, as she earned a Daughters of the American Revolution college scholarship, a testament to her family’s storied history of service.

Orthodontics and Compassion: Transforming Smiles Inside and Out

Corinne’s journey didn’t stop at serving as a Navy officer; she extended her passion for dentistry to orthodontics, recognizing the transformative power of a confident smile. As an orthodontist, she possesses a unique ability to communicate compassionately, combining her feminine charm with a genuine desire to uplift the self-esteem of women, girls, and boys, one orthodontic procedure at a time.

Her work isn’t confined to the military sphere; Corinne’s desire to make a positive impact extends to civilian life as well. Moonlighting in private practices, she provides her orthodontic expertise to children and their mothers, leaving a trail of transformed smiles and boosted self-confidence in her wake.

Global Perspective: A Journey Around the World

One of the remarkable aspects of Corinne’s journey is her global perspective. Having lived in and visited over 50 countries across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, she’s garnered a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and experiences. Her deployment with the United States Navy during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Al Asad, Iraq, showcased her commitment to providing care and support to military personnel and civilians alike.

From Crown to Commander: Empowering Through Titles

Corinne Devin’s journey took an unexpected turn when she pursued the world of beauty pageantry, a realm seemingly distant from her military and dental background. However, Corinne managed to intertwine these seemingly disparate paths, using her titles – Ms. Texas, Ms. United States 2012, and Ms. Galaxy 2014 – as platforms to mentor young girls and inspire them to believe in the boundless possibilities of their own lives.

Her keynote speaking engagement at the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Conference in Japan, organized by the Department of Defense, allowed her to reach over 1,000 middle school girls. By showcasing her unique journey, she shattered stereotypes and encouraged young minds to dream big, regardless of the fields they aspired to conquer.

A Legacy of Empowerment and Achievement

From her dual role as a naval officer and orthodontist to her unexpected but impactful involvement in beauty pageants, Corinne Devin’s journey is a testament to the limitless potential that comes from embracing one’s passions and pushing boundaries. She’s a living example of how disparate interests can synergize to create a narrative of empowerment, compassion, and dedication.

“If you’re trying to figure out what you do, knowing what you don’t want to do is also helpful,” says Corinne.

“And what I would say if there’s any industry that you’re interested into, get onto LinkedIn, get onto social media and find someone who’s in that network. If you went to a college, look of your college alumni. If you belong to Junior League, Rotary Club, Lines Club, any of those, that’s a great way to start to get an instant in with those people.”

As she gazes at her beauty pageant crown hanging beside her Navy uniform, Corinne Devin can undoubtedly take pride in her remarkable journey – a journey that traversed from crown to commander, leaving a trail of transformed smiles, inspired dreams, and a legacy of empowerment in its wake.

One of the things about life is we’re constantly evolving. And you know what? If there’s not a path, guess what? Leave one, leave a trail.
