1. Who is Delpha Clarke Samuels?
I am an identical twin, and my sister and I are known as The Barbie Twins. We are the CEOs & Founders of Couture Lips by Delpha & Delerice. Mink lashes are the newest edition to our cosmetic line.
I am also the wife of a Pastor where I serve as the First Lady & Director of Women’s Ministry at Life Changing Anointing of Fort Lauderdale. I am mother to a wonderful son, Prince Glenton III.
2. Can you tell us about your recent pageant accomplishments?
After placing second runner-up two years in a row, I took home the title of Mrs. Florida International 2019. I am honored to have the opportunity to represent my state where I was born and raised.
Pageantry has given me the opportunity to spread awareness of my platform. I am the CEO & Founder of E’arron Haley Foundation NO TEXT is WORTH A LIFE Campaign. I lost my brother due to a person who was texting while driving so I used my platform to work with state representatives like Emily Slosberg in order to ban texting and driving in Florida.
3. How did you get started in pageantry?
My first competition was at the age of 5. One of my family members told me about it and I fell in love with the stage and pageants. I won my first pageant at the age of 5.
Because of pageantry, I received scholarships for acting and school and signed with my first modeling agency.
4. How did pageantry impact your career ambitions?
Pageantry teaches you structure, goal-setting, and how to conduct yourself as a woman. It prepared me for my everyday life.
My biggest takeaway from pageantry is the confidence that it gave me to connect with educated and beautiful woman. Instead of being intimidated by another woman’s success or beauty, I’ve been able to learn from the women around me.
5. How were you able to use your skills in pageantry to make a living?
It prepared me to become a coach. I provide 1:1 coaching through my company, “Unlocking the Queen Within”.
Once women become a wife, that’s their only focus or it becomes too much to balance. I’ve been able to teach others women how to balance it all by becoming a coach. I want women to know that “yeah you are a mom and you can still be a businesswoman”.
I also do image consulting. In pageantry you are taught to present yourself in a certain way all the time. I rarely paid for a makeup artist because I mastered makeup from competing in pageants all those years. Now I use those skills to create another source of income in my career.
My experience in interview during pageants has taught me how to land jobs and create income for myself. Pageant interviews are the hardest interviews I’ve ever had. Anytime I had to go for a 9-5 interview, I got the job 99% of the times.
